Artist Bio

Raised in Western Montana, Alisha Shilling is an artist photographer, mother, and lives to find the light in the everyday moments with her family and surroundings. She was classically trained in the darkroom and film but little kids and little time demanded she joined the masses in shooting her iphone and using vsco filters to keep her art practice alive. Alisha shot weddings and portraits for over a decade but is now in pursuit of creating her own work. Light and movement embody her work making simple moments feel poetic.

Alisha’s other work includes being the founder and chair of KALICO, an organization formed to create, connect and experience art as a community. With KALICO, she spearheaded a project that brought 8 murals to Rails to Trails of NWMT, 12 original art pieces to traffic signal boxes in the downtown Kalispell, and co-curated a one night only performative response piece within Mary Mattinly’s Limnal Lacrimosa exhibition in 2021. Alisha has been called an instigator for the arts and she is cool with that. She believes art heals, connects, ignites and is innately within us all. Follow her personal IG where for eight years she has been documenting her everyday life in only black & white for the ongoing project Remember Me.
